After a year of preparation and an investment of more than 1 million florin, ANSA has successfully completed a major upgrade to its Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) and Aeronautical Information System (AIS). The project, finalized in November 2025 by Thales Air Systems S.A.S. of France, marks a significant step toward enhancing the safety and efficiency of air navigation in Aruba’s airspace.
The AMHS/AIS platform is a critical tool used by ANSA’s Aeronautical Information Affairs department to process, manage, and distribute aeronautical messages and information essential for flight operations. The upgrade included both hardware and software enhancements.
On the hardware side, ANSA replaced aging servers, four operator workstations—three in the Flight planning office and one in the Technical room—as well as LAN switches. This equipment had been in service for more than eight years and had reached the end of its operational life cycle.

The software upgrade introduced a more robust, future-ready version of the AMHS/AIS platform. The system now supports File Transfer Body Part (FTBP) capability, enabling the exchange of IWXXM data and other extended ATS messages through the AMHS/SWIM gateway. These improvements ensure compliance with ICAO requirements for handling large aeronautical messages.

With this upgrade, ANSA is fully prepared to meet future system requirements and deliver faster, more reliable communication for pilots and air traffic controllers.
The modernization positions ANSA at the forefront of technological standards, reinforcing its commitment to safe and efficient air travel.
